captain marvel is a reflection of the female experience. having a mentor telling you that you are only there because he allows it, that you have to control your emotions and that “what is giving can be taken away” is a female experience. seeing Carol setting herself free from that man and discovering that not only he was lying, but that he was restraining her because he knew that she was stronger than him is so fucking powerful to women because we can relate to it on a deep level

so I don’t give a shit if men can’t relate to captain marvel. this movie isn’t for you.

Not to mention how aforementioned mentor mistakes objectivity for being a jerk. And how Carol frees herself from this toxic environment because another woman reminds her that no, she’s not the person they want her to be and that’s alright. I think all this flies straight past most men watching the movie

Praying for the woman I’ll be in 5+yrs I hope she’s happy, and loved, living life unapologetically, doing what she loves.

recovering-suggestions:

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they want to be okay, feel better, and I’m gonna drop some knowledge on you right now. Just the fact that you want to feel okay means you’re getting better. You saying ‘this isn’t where I want to be in life’ means you are looking forward, looking to get better. And just that little bit of motivation means that you are okay, because you’re still alive and still looking forward. You haven’t lost hope yet, and I’m sure that’s better compared to where you used to be. I believe in you. Keep getting better.

emotional abuse is when someone does something to hurt you, and when you express your feelings, that you’re upset, they turn it around to be something you did to hurt them and they force you to apologize for it, and your feelings, like always, are rendered invalid and silenced, forever damaging the ability to trust others with your feelings because they always are used against you.

this is important because so many people don’t know this
